Fried Milk Cubes (Crispy Cream Bites)

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups milk
  • ½ cup sugar
  • ⅓ cup cornstarch
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tbsp butter

For coating & frying:

  • ½ cup flour
  • 1 egg (beaten)
  • ½ cup breadcrumbs (or cornstarch for a lighter coating)
  • Oil for frying
  • Powdered sugar (for dusting)

Instructions:

  1. Make the Cream Base:
    • In a saucepan, whisk together milk, sugar, cornstarch, and vanilla.
    • Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until thick and pudding-like.
    • Stir in butter until smooth.
  2. Chill & Cut:
    • Pour mixture into a greased dish, spread evenly, and refrigerate for 2–3 hours (or until firm).
    • Once set, cut into cubes.
  3. Coat the Cubes:
    • Roll each cube in flour → dip in beaten egg → coat with breadcrumbs.
  4. Fry:
    • Heat oil to medium-high.
    • Fry cubes until golden brown and crispy (about 2–3 minutes).
    • Drain on paper towels.
  5. Finish:
    • Dust with powdered sugar.
    • Serve warm with whipped cream or chocolate sauce for dipping.
